UNFPA Project

AFGA with the support of UNFPA has been implementing RH activities since 2006 and mainly contributed in the implementation of family planning activities, including family planning service providers’ capacity building and storage and supply of RH/family planning commodities during the early time of the partnership.

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the United Nation’s RH agency. Their mission is to deliver a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person’s potential is fulfilled. AFGA is a crucial partner of UNFPA at the country level.

Under the UNFPA Project, AFGA provides its services through 4 components: Youth and Adolescents, Reproductive Health, Family Planning and Humanitarian, through 14 Mobile Health Teams (MHTs), 25 Family Health Houses (FHHs), one Midwifery Helpline (MHL), one Integrated Youth Space and four Regional Warehouses in Kabul, Balkh, Herat and Kandahar Provinces.

In March 2023, AFGA initiated the Last Mile Assurance Pilot Project. Through this project, 48 volunteers from Kabul, Herat, and Balkh Provinces are assigned to support the teams effort in the distribution of different kits and commodities, assist in public awareness-raising activities, and assist in stock counts, and basic assessments of commodities that might be damaged, expired, or out-of-stock.
